Methode Development Introduces NP-200 Flatbed Inkjet Printer for the Printed Electronics Market

June 15, 2015

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Jun 15, 2015) - Methode Development Company (MDC), a Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) company, announced the introduction of the NP-200 flatbed inkjet printer designed for the creation of functional electrical circuits for the printed electronics market. The NP-200 printer has a 13 inches by 24 inches print area that is capable of printing on rigid or flexible substrates up to six inches thick. Circuit patterns can be created in the layout program that is included with the printer software, or uploaded from an AutoCad or PDF file.

The introduction of the NP-200 model complements last year's introduction of the smaller NP-100 flatbed inkjet printer. The product line enables customers to work with an even wider range of substrates for the development and prototype production of printed electronic circuits. Engineers and designers can:

  • Select from a variety of print resolutions and/or drop sizes,
  • Achieve resistance levels as low as 0.03 Ohms per square,
  • Alter resistance levels or circuit definitions,
  • Implement adjustments quickly, and
  • Compress development cycles and reduce costs.

The NP-200's flexibility combined with its ease of operation and maintenance makes the flatbed inkjet printer a valuable enabling tool for the emerging printed electronics market, which is forecast to grow to $70 billion in the next decade. MDC offers a complimentary line of conductive ink products, including Methode's 9100 conductive and 3800 resistive inkjet series that are water-based, RoHS compliant and contains a range of inks for a wide variety of substrates and print head technologies.

"The NP-200 offers our customers the opportunity to print on larger substrates with greater accuracy, thereby providing customers more bang for their buck, and demonstrates MDC's commitment to the printed electronics market," stated Al Chiappetta, general manager. "The NP-200 and NP-100 printers are also both designed to accommodate the properties of our conductive and resistive ink products The expansion of our flatbed inkjet printer line will help our customers quickly design and develop superior products."
