Methode's dataMate Announces Launch of Three New Copper Transceiver Product Lines at the 2016 OFC Conference in Anaheim, California

New Copper Modules Extend the Life of Existing Cable Infrastructure in Enterprise, Datacenter and Carrier Access Applications

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 22, 2016) - dataMate, a business unit of Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI), a global developer of custom engineered and application specific products and solutions, today announced the release of three industry firsts -- a 10Gb/s copper enhanced small form pluggable (SFP+) transceiver module, a 2.5G/5G MGBASE-T SFP+ transceiver module and a small form pluggable (SFP) G.fast transceiver module.

dataMate's 10GBASE-T SFP+ transceiver (DM7051) has been power optimized for link lengths up to 30m over Cat 6a cable replacing the need for cumbersome direct attach cables with a reach limit of 7m. This innovative product is compliant to the IEEE 802.3az standard, conforms to SFF-8431/SFF-8432 multi source agreements and will link to other 10GBASE-T ports. This new module will allow data center and network managers the ability to extend the life of their Cat 6a structured cable infrastructure with a straightforward, cost effective upgrade.

The 2.5G/5G MGBASE-T SFP+ transceiver (DM7057) has been engineered as the industry's most convenient means for scaling wireless access bandwidth in the enterprise. The product offers all the intrinsic advantages native to the SFP+ including a full-feature MGBASE-T physical layer PHY, a 2-wire communications interface for module management and an RJ45 socket for connection to existing Cat 5e structured cabling plant.

The G.fast SFP transceiver (DM7087) was developed to help network carriers easily upgrade their installed base of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) access connections to ITU-T G.9700 and G.9701 compliant G.fast links capable of running up to 1Gb/s over conventional telephony twisted pair cable. This represents up to 30 times improvement in the bandwidth that can be delivered to the residence or enterprise over existing installed twisted pair. The DM7087 is available as an SFP module with an RJ11 twisted pair interface.
